Resurrection Declaration

Introduction: I have preached at least one Easter sermon for the past forty-one years. My take on those sermons is much like the take on preaching that one of my college professors presented to the homiletics class: When I was called to preach I figured I would preach through the Bible in one year and then the job would be finished. I have had some thoughts that at some point I would have said all that there is to say about Easter. Was I ever wrong! Amazingly, I have discovered that the Easter message is a well whose waters gush forth with volume and intensity.
This Easter revelation occurs only when we are willing to move beyond the temptation to always turn to the text as a mainly historical investigation. I must be willing to journey into the realm of stone-sealed tombs and disciples behind locked doors in order comprehend the life-changing, altering message of Easter.
Easter has something to say, a declaration to proclaim! We nod in agreement. We sang and recited the words, “He lives!” But what does that life beyond the tomb declare? I am only beginning to dig into the resurrection soil. Here’s a sampling of what I am discovering.
I. You and I deserve to be loved more than we are-- ___________ ___________!
II. You and I deserve to be forgiven more than we are -- ___________ _________
III. You and I Deserve to be more effective than we are -- ___________ _____________
