Tools & Techniques

Members of the Chancel Choir use a variety of tools and tricks to prepare for some of the more challenging performances.  A few of those are posted here so that anyone else who wants to can take advantage of those techniques:

  • NotePad is a free, downloadable piece of software that will allow you to play music files that someone else created, or "type" music on your computer - and play it back - a very handy way to isolate a difficult stretch of music from a piece and listen to it over and over again.  To obtain a copy of NotePad, click here.

To download musical scores which can be played with Finale Notepad, click here.

  • There are several programs out there that let you play your computer keyboard like a piano.   Electronic Piano is one of them.  To obtain a free copy, click the image below.

  • Other ideas and discussion on how to use some of these tools can be found on our discussion forum.  You are welcome to browse the topics posted there, or you can become a registered user of this site and post your own questions - and answers - there.  To acces the Choir Discussion Forum, click here.
