Our Ministry

The Rex Robinson Memorial Library at the First United Methodist church exists to assist our church in its mission to grow disciples for Jesus Christ.  We seek to provide a user-friendly facility that is helpful for learning, teaching, and maturing in the Christian faith.  We strive to meet many of the reading needs of children and adults.

Library Collection

Books are carefully selected by members of the library committee to provide a theologically balanced collection which is constructive in influence, morally sound, and high of literary quality.  Offerings include

  • Contemporary Christian novels and assorted fiction
  • Devotional, motivational, and inspirational writings
  • Life-stage development, including including marriage, parenting, aging, and grief
  • Bible commentaries
  • Theology
  • Books for Christian care giving
  • A children's section filled with appropriate fiction titles and Bible stories

Circulation

Most material has a normal loan period of two weeks, with a renewal procedure available when needed.  Some reference and archive items may not be checked out.  Check-out uses an honor system that requires the borrower to fill in his/her name and stamp the return date on the card and date-due slip and leave it at the desk.

Funding

Gifts and memorial funds are encouraged.  The library committee welcomes book contributions, but reserves the prerogative to evaluate those materials and keep them or pass them along at its discretion.
