Why register?
Most of this website is accessible by anyone who comes here. However, there are a few things that are only important to members of our church, and those things are hidden from view for the casual user. In order to see things like business meeting minutes, ministry leadership teams, etc., it is necessary to log in to the site. Only registered user can log in.
There are also a few functions some users need to perform on the site - updating calendars, for example - and those functions are restricted to logged-in individuals. And a there are a few places where information is automatically filled in for logged-in users, as well.

How do I become "Registered"?
When you first come to our home page, youi'll find a section titled "User Login" in the left-hand column (unless you're already logged in). Beneath the Username and Password fields you should see the words "Not a member yet? Click here to register". Click on those words, and foll out the form that appears.
The registration form asks for lots of information, but the only fields that are required are those with stars beside them. Choose a username and passowrd that you can remember; they will only apply at this website. It's not required, but providing your physical address there would be useful.
When you're finished with the form, click on the "Create Account" button on the bottom of the page. An e-mail will be sent to the address you specified; after you respond to that e-mail, your registration will be complete. Then you can log in to the website.
It's not necessary, but it's probably a good idea for each user - husband, wife, daughter, son - who uses the site to have their own log-in, so they should each register.

How do I find what I'm looking for?
Once you're familiar with the site, the menu item on the left part of the screen should become more intuitive. Simply moving your mouse pointer over the menu items causes some of them to explode into more choices. Clicking on a menu item opens a corresponding page.
However, there is a short-cut that you may find useful: "Search". To automatically scan the site for some keywords, just type them in the Search field in the upper right part of the screen, then click the "Search" button. You can then select from a list of pages in this site containing the word/s you entered. Here's an example: Type the word "train" into the Search box, click Search, and look at all the places where you can see something about thast train ride.

Is there some way I can avoid having to type www.fumcquitman.org every time I want to come to the site?
Of course! That's what "Favorites" are for (or "Bookmarks" in some browsers). Add the home page - or any other page/s you want to visit often - as a favorite and you can go right to it without typing a thing.
If you need help setting up "favorites", call the office and ask.

How do I report problems with this site?
Probably the most useful way would be to post a comment on one of these discussion boards. There are buttons on the home page that get you into the "Suggestion Box" and the "Help" board. Both of these are monitored by the website staff, and are also visibly to other users, allowing them to benefit from your question or comment. (You might want to look there to first to see if your question has already been answered.)
Another way to contact us is to send e-mail. To do that you can just click on the webmaster link at the bottom right of every web page, or send a note to webmaster@fumcquitman.org .
And if you're really in a hurry, just call the church office.
