Methodist Men
Join Us

As a charter member of the General Conference of United Methodist Men, FUMC's men are organized to keep Christ centered in the lives of men and in all their relationships. We strive to be a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spirituality and to seek his will daily. All men are invited - encouraged - to join our fellowship, as we seek to expand our positive influence well beyond the walls of this church.

The Methodist Men of First United Methodist Church of Quitman and Liberty United Methodist Church support many causes, including Scouting, our Youth, emergency needs of our community, and spiritual needs of any who will accept our counsel.

As prescribed by The Book of Discipline, The United Methodist Church, our major concerns are:

  • To encourage knowledge of and support for the total mission of The United Methodist church.
  • To engage in evangelism by sharing the fullness of the gospel in its personal and social dimensions.
  • To clarify and speak to the identity and role of the man in contemporary society.
  • To seek commitment to discipleship.
  • To study and become familiar with The United Methodist Church, its organization, doctrines, and beliefs.
  • To cooperate with all units of United Methodist Men in obtaining these objectives.

Regular UMM Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of every month in either FUMC's J.O.Y. Hall or Liberty's Fellowship Hall.  The evening begins at 6:30 with a pot luck brought by the men attending, and continues at 7:00 with a meeting which includes:

  • A devotional
  • Prayer for those having a special need
  • Discussion of old and new business topics
  • Usually, a guest speaker

The meetings are all scheduled to conclude by 8:00pm.

Guests and new members - we always have plenty of food.  You are welcome to join us for dinner bringing nothing but an open heart.
